Press Release

Petra Hotel at 3 Days of Design 18th – 20th June

Thoughtfully designed for local friends and international travellers

In an exciting collaboration with Copenhagen Design Hotels, &Tradition is pleased to announce the opening of Petra – a boutique hotel reimagined by &Tradition to blend heritage design with contemporary sensibilities. Located adjacent to King’s Garden in Copenhagen, this meticulously restored landmark, originally designed by renowned architect Kay Fisker, will reopen its doors in June 2025 with a new concept.

A tribute to Fisker’s architectural legacy, Petra has undergone a careful restoration to honour the original craftsmanship of the 1943 building. Fisker’s distinctive design details – such as original terrazzo flooring, handcrafted stairway bannisters, brass fittings, and curved wooden features – have been preserved and thoughtfully integrated throughout. This approach ensures that Petra’s interiors maintain a deep connection to the past while offering a refined and contemporary hotel stay.

The 1550 square metre premises features 40 uniquely styled, en-suite rooms where each gesture, however small, contributes to a personal experience shaped by the details of considered design. Each space, curated in partnership with &Tradition, reflects a balanced blend of classic elegance and modern comfort, embodying the ethos of &Tradition. At the heart of the hotel is Petra Bar & Restaurant, a vibrant space where guests and locals alike can enjoy seasonal menus and expertly crafted drinks. Inspired by the hotel’s overarching concept of merging heritage with modernity, the restaurant offers a fresh perspective on Danish cuisine, combining traditional influences with international flavours. Whether visiting for breakfast, an evening meal or a post-dinner cocktail, Petra’s warm and welcoming atmosphere brings together international travellers and the local community.

Petra Bar & Restaurant is an invitation to step out of routine and into something more intentional. Every detail, from the design of the space to the lighting and sound, is carefully curated to shift the mood. It’s a place to unwind, raise a glass, and order dessert. A setting where the pace slows and appreciation for the moment takes over.

Set to debut during Copenhagen’s 3 Days of Design event, Petra will host a daily aperitivo hour where all are invited and serve a curated offering of food throughout the course of the design festival. On Wednesday, 18 June at 15:00 – 15:45, designers Jaime Hayon and Luca Nichetto will also discuss their own influences within design and how their work is inspired by the projects of other designers. The pair will reflect on whose work has historically helped them create their own practices, and what they take from their contemporaries today.

While rooms are booked for the duration of the event, visitors are encouraged to explore the hotel’s ground floor and enjoy Petra Bar & Restaurant.
